Music quiz in Nice

Music quiz in Nice: a blind test in the cellar, three rounds and shooters to win

At Les Folies d'Edmonde, the blind test is a music-quiz night that is as friendly as it is competitive: a DJ plays track after track and, as a team, you name the song or the artist. Tourists and regulars mix, the level rises fast, and every round you win earns your team shooters. It runs every week, on Monday or Tuesday night, in the vaulted cellar of Old Nice.

How the blind test works

The night is played over three rounds. The first puts everyone on an equal footing; the next two raise the difficulty around themes announced on the spot.

Round 1 — the written round

You listen and write your answers down calmly. No need to be the fastest: even the least experienced players can score the maximum and stay in the running.

Round 2 — first theme

The DJ announces a theme for the whole round. The tracks get trickier — this is where the real blind-test teams start to pull ahead.

Round 3 — second theme

A new theme and the home stretch. It is often the round that decides the final ranking and the last rounds of shooters.

Themes revealed as the night goes on

Rounds 2 and 3 are built around themes revealed on the spot. A few that have already come up at Les Folies:

Jazz

Rock

The 2000s

The 80s

Songs by bald artists

Artists starting with B

Three-word artist name

Two-word artist name

Title with the word 'love'

Shooters for every round you win

Ludo hosts the blind test and picks the tracks: a DJ who knows how to read the room, alternating crowd-pleasers everyone sings along to with the traps that separate the best teams.

The blind test is not only about pride: the team that wins a round gets shooters, to share or to line up. Three rounds means three chances to crank up the mood and walk away with the win.

Frequently asked questions about the blind test

What is a blind test?

A blind test is a music quiz: a DJ plays clips of songs and, as a team, you have to name the song title or the artist. At Les Folies d'Edmonde it is played over three rounds in the vaulted cellar of Old Nice.

When is the blind test in Nice?

The blind test takes place every week, on Monday or Tuesday night. The exact date for the week is announced on the Events page and on the Les Folies d'Edmonde Instagram.

Do I need to book and come as a team?

Booking is strongly recommended, especially for groups, as the nights are popular. You can come with your own team or put one together on the spot — the spirit stays friendly.

Do I need to be a music expert?

No. The level is high, but the first round is written and open to all: even without being a connoisseur you can score the maximum and stay in the running. Tourists and regulars play together.

What do you win at the blind test?

For every round you win, your team leaves with shooters. The main point is still the fun of playing and the atmosphere of the cellar, but the shooters add a little spice to the competition.
